Elohim Catholic Charismatic Community
of San Lorenzo
Almost as old as FCSL, the Elohim Catholic Charismatic Community of San Lorenzo (ECCC-SL) can trace its origins to the Charismatic Movement that found a home in the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore in 1989. We can number the following as pioneers of this 1989 Charismatic Community: Sis Lucy Bauyon, Bro Bhoy Atienza, Sis Juliet Cunamay, Sis Mely Suayan, Bro Pete Diaz, and Sis Esther del Carmen.
After three years, in January of 1992, the El Shaddai DWXI-PPFI Rome Chapter sent feelers to begin an El Shaddai DWXI-PPFI Milan Chapter. And the Charismatic Movement gladly gave way so that it absorbed the new movement and eventually became called the El Shaddai DWXI-PPFI Milan Chapter. This charismatic community brought life, solace and graces to countless souls during its eleven years of stay in the FCSL Community.
In 2004, the El Shaddai bade goodbye to the Basilica of San Lorenzo and found a new home in the church of Santa Maria del Carmine. The charismatic members that opted to remain in FCSL regrouped and called themselves the El Shaddai Catholic Charismatic Community. After so much prayer, consultations, and sacrifices the name “ Elohim Catholic Charismatic Community of San Lorenzo” (ECCC-SL) was discerned as most fitting for the charismatic movement.
The ECCC-SL celebrated its tenth year anniversary in 2014. So much blessings, faith, and enlightenment was shared to so many souls who have joined this community.
Composition of Members
As of today, the ECCC-SL is guided by a Spiritual Director who oversees the Council of Elders. ECCC-SL members can join various ministries depending on the charism that the Spirit has gifted them – Disciple Preachers, Choir, Prayer Warriors, Usherettes, Food ministry, and Marshalls.
Duties, Responsibilities and Activities
The ECCC-SL Milan serves as the Mother Chapter and has given birth to new chapters in other areas: Gesù Salvatore of Milano Tre, Basiglio, Santa Cristina in Parma, and Santa Maria dei Servi in Bologna.
The primary apostolate of the group is the Sunday Praise and Worship called “Gawain” where singing, life testimonies, and deep reflection on the Word of God are the order of the day. This happens on Sundays, from 1:00-3:00 pm, at the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, Corso di Porta Ticinese.
The ECCC-SL also has a Block Rosary prayer group that brings the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary to various houses on Saturdays and lets her stay there for the whole week. They pray the rosary, share some life testimonies, and have fellowship during this Saturday late afternoon or early evening gathering.
The ECCC-SL also maintains a powerful Prayer Brigade where anyone, even non-ECCC-SL members, can request for prayers, and the whole community will join in storming heaven to grant your request.
Every now and then, trips to important Pilgrimage sites (here and abroad) are organized by the ECCC-SL. These are important moments of grace and also of bonding, fellowship and increase in membership.
Significant Contributions to FCSL
The ECCC-SL is a dependable fount as far as prayers for the community are concerned. FCSL can definitely rely on the ECCC-SL for prayers.
FCSL can also rely on the ECCC-SL when it comes to supporting the programs that it initiates. The ECCC-SL is always very willing to extend a helping hand to the FCSL whenever time, talent or treasure may be needed.
